Rita Mahoney, Gina Zuccala-Robbins, Liz Egan & Dianne Hummel are dedicated to providing support for those seeking an alternative approach to healing.

Founders & Presiding Officers
Maria’Z Hope Foundation, Inc. was founded by Maria Zuccala-Burke’s sister, Rita Mahoney, and two of her good friends, Ellen Kurzrok and Lisa Loretz. These three women have extensive volunteer experience in community and health related charities. Each has played an integral role in the fundraising efforts that enabled Maria to receive alternative treatments for cancer. They have witnessed Maria’s journey first hand; it is her improvement that inspired them to create Maria’Z Hope Foundation, Inc.
In September 2014, Ellen Kurzrok left the foundation. Ellen provided medical direction, patient/client knowledge as a practicing nurse, accounting and treasury skills that were instrumental to our success in establishing this foundation. We thank her for her many accomplishments within the Maria'Z Hope Foundation. Late 2016, Lisa Loretz stepped down as secretary to focus on the health needs of her family. She is still actively involved in the foundation.
November 2014 brought two new members to the foundation. Gina Zuccala-Robbins joined as Vice President and Liz Egan as Treasurer. Each brings a unique set of skills to help our charity grow even larger.

January 2017 brings a new member to our foundation. Dianne Hummel has volunteered to be our Secretary. We welcome her organization skills, thereby increasing productivity and efficiency for us all.
We look forward to the new year with a spirit of hope and health to you all.

We want to help those who need it.
Our Mission is to provide emotional, financial, and educational support for individuals living with a life threatening illness who seek alternative treatments not normally covered by traditional health insurance plans.
Meet Maria
Maria’s heart and soul inspired us to form our charitable foundation. We have all been and continue to be touched by Maria’s courage, strength, and tenacity throughout her journey with cancer.
Maria was diagnosed at age 42 with stage 3 breast cancer. She had undergone extensive medical treatments while caring for three young children, never letting her positive attitude waiver. Maria was in remission. In 2007 she experienced a recurrence and was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer that had metastasized to her bones. In November 2012 Maria’s journey ended.
We personally watched Maria benefit greatly using complementary medicine. These treatments improved her wellness and enabled her to have more quality time with her children, friends and family.
Maria always took the time, while undergoing treatments, to join and actively participate in other foundations that provided assistance to women with breast cancer. She served as the vice-president of a major charitable foundation. Maria actively ran a program that provided meals for cancer patients. Within the foundation, Maria also coordinated a support program for the children of cancer survivors. Maria sat on the executive board of the foundation and helped in all the event planning for fundraising. She was involved on a deep personal level with the people living with cancer that relied on this foundation.
Maria was an active member of her community. She was a Girl Scout Leader for 20 years, served as PTA President of her children’s elementary school, and chaired many school and PTA committees.
